Beach chair for sauna bench. On Usedom, the rhythm shifts as late summer grows quieter—and that’s exactly when a Baltic Sea holiday shows its calmest, most beautiful side. In our Holiday apartments with private sauna on Usedom the evening usually begins like this: salty sea air, the last light over the promenade—and then your own sauna, already waiting for you. No hotel spa, no waiting list, no stranger’s bathrobe.
That’s the principle our sauna apartments are built on: space, peace, and the freedom to shape the evening in whatever way feels right.

In July, you share the beach. In October, it’s yours.
When the big waves of travelers subside, Usedom shows its quieter side: beaches that suddenly feel endless, light that falls low and warm across the sand, restaurants without waiting times, promenades with room to breathe, and a coastal forest turning vivid with color. The island grows quieter. And on Usedom, quieter often means: more beautiful.
In this calm time—from late summer through to spring—a private sauna in your apartment comes into its own. When the sea air and a walk along the beach get your circulation going, the sauna warms you through properly in the morning and in the evening. If you’d like to experience this peace for several weeks, you’ll find the perfect winter retreat in “Overwintering on Usedom”.

What’s even better than a hotel spa? An apartment with a private sauna. Many holidaymakers book a hotel with a small room just to be able to use a spa. Often the pool goes unused, and the sauna feels too crowded.
Why not swap it for a holiday apartment with plenty of space, a private sauna, and Molton Brown toiletries—and enjoy truly special wellness moments.
In our sauna apartments, you share the sauna with no one. You don’t book a time slot, you don’t put your name down anywhere. The bathroom is yours—with a walk-in shower and a sauna waiting exactly where it belongs: right in your apartment.
It sounds like a comfort detail. In reality, it changes how an evening feels. A short walk on the beach, still in the dark, back into the warmth, sauna on, white wine from the fridge. That’s how the feeling is created that most people associate with a holiday—but rarely find.
Five of our apartments feature a private sauna in the bathroom. Four are in Ahlbeck, in historic villas from the spa architecture era; the fifth is at Lake Schmollensee in the Heringsdorf district of Sellin. All have two separate bedrooms and accommodate up to four people.

The ground-floor Deluxe Apartment No. 2 in Villa Groth in Ahlbeck is less than 50 meters from the beach—that’s not a description, it’s the route you could walk in your pajamas in the morning. 60 m², two separate bedrooms, your own terrace. In the bathroom: walk-in shower and private sauna. This is the apartment couples book for long weekends—and then end up adding one more day.
In Villa Steigel, also in Ahlbeck, three sauna apartments are available—from ground-floor with terrace to top-floor with balcony and far-reaching views. No. 2 is on the ground floor; the terrace is reached via a few small steps (74 m²), No. 4 on the first floor (72 m²), and No. 6 in the attic (69 m²). All three: two bedrooms, walk-in shower, sauna.
A little away from the Imperial Spas, in the Heringsdorf district of Sellin, you’ll find our fifth sauna apartment—and it follows a different idea. No beach-chair bustle, but lakeside idyll at Lake Schmollensee: 85 m² on the ground floor, two separate bedrooms with double beds and lockable doors, a fully equipped kitchen, walk-in shower, and private sauna in the bathroom. From the terrace, the lake lies open before you; a spacious garden leads directly to a shared beach section with a private jetty.
This is the quieter version of Usedom: in the morning, from the jetty into the water; in the evening, sauna; in between, nothing that has an appointment. If you’re looking for peace by the water and want the Baltic beaches of the Imperial Spas just a few minutes away by car, you’re in the right place—space for up to four people. A playground and horse paddocks are close by—ideal for families who want to combine wellness and nature.

The real spa on Usedom is the island itself. An average of 1,906 hours of sunshine a year, most of them along the coast, salty air that opens the lungs, wide beaches with no end in sight.
A spa and healing forest that runs right through Heringsdorf. A sports beach where yoga classes take place early in the morning. Miles of seaside promenades where you can walk alone in the morning—especially when the season grows quieter.
The pattern is always the same: movement, air, wide horizons outside. Warmth, stillness, your own sauna inside. If you have both, you don’t need a wellness hotel. And if you’re looking for even deeper relaxation, we recommend a treatment or massage, for example at Araliya Spa in Ahlbeck (team insider tip: the Ayurvedic forehead oil pour “Shirodhara” for deep relaxation).

Not your first time on Usedom, but perhaps the first time this quiet. Two people, one spacious apartment, a private sauna. No schedule, no program—except the one the evening naturally sets.
Two separate bedrooms mean: the children are asleep, the parents are still up. The sauna then becomes an adults-only thing—and on some evenings, that’s exactly right.
